Where To Find Martial Arts Supplies
So, you’ve decided you are going to learn martial arts, and now, you need to get the proper supplies! Let’s review some of the best places to get equipment for martial arts, tae kwondo, brazilian ju jitsu, krav maga, boxing, and kick boxing. We will take a look at the different forms, and what the best equipment is for each one, and where to get it!
I personally love mixed version and learning all forms of the exercise, so, I’m a bit partial to it. Having the proper gloves, uniforms, and protective gear can be really important for your own safety, and the safety of your class mates. (And even the safety of your instructor!) Different forms will require different equipment. The basics are all similar, such as gloves, mouth pieces, headgear, and pads. However, in forms such as muay thai, it may be more important to have shin guards. Muay thai uses the long bones of the body for striking, so, there is a lot more shin kicking in that type of practice.
That is just one example of the different types of supplies you may need. You may decide you want to learn the chucks, or you may want to learn sword fighting. What ever you decide, you will start with the beginning supplies and work your way up to the heavier equipment.
Many instructors will require special uniforms for their particular gym. Many times, you will not need any shoes. Most of it is done barefoot. I know I prefer to be barefoot.
Now, where to get it? Well, you did the right thing! First thing is to check with the martial arts studio you are signed up with. The teachers and instructors there will most likely have a good idea of what you’ll need and what brands are the best to work with. If they don’t sell them there, you can always do an internet search for the martial arts supplies you are looking for! There are lot’s of online communities that will help you find what ever it is you are looking for!
